Although I’ve been teaching myself the arts across multiple disciples throughout my entire life, my career as an artist didn’t begin until I moved to Northwest Arkansas. Here I began to feel to support of the community and lean into a lifestyle of creation. From canvas paintings to tattoo designs, stickers to murals, I am eager to create in every sense possible and open to any collaborative ideas anyone may have!
Kat Wilson is an experimental artist based in Northwest Arkansas, where she received her MFA. Wilson’s work is theatrical, participatory, and humanistic and often involves collaboration with others, including, in many photography projects, the subjects of the photos themselves. Early in her career, Wilson gained national success with her Habitats series of digital photographs, which, like her current #SelfieThrones and Warrior Women series, uses centuries-old compositional devices to create a sense of transcendence. Wilson’s work has been published in Communication Arts, the Los Angeles Times, and The Washington Post, displayed at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and projected at The Louvre, among many others.
Cory Corbett is an Arkansas native, born in Rogers in 1979. She works in water-based clay, building up her pieces over an armature and then finishes the pieces with paint, glaze, or wood stain.
Artists Statement:
There are authentically real moments happening around us all the time but few of us see them or register them. We humans go to great lengths to hide such raw emotion behind a facade mixed with reservation and propriety. When I see those moments in real time or captured in images or movies, it inspires me to express them in my art. A startled reaction, a knowing gaze, an expression of pure joy or rage are all things I try to share in my works. As my collection evolves, and as my talent changes, I find myself sculpting pieces that, hopefully, generate those authentic reactions in the people that view them. Every puzzled look, critical glare or precious smile given in reaction to my work is food for this artist's soul. I hope together we can move toward a more honest world where genuine emotion is expressed freely.
We will have hours soon.... We promise :)
